Yes, we adhere to a strict code of ethics when it comes to responsibly sourced diamonds and gemstones.
We believe no material is precious if it denies someone a good quality of life. Every diamond we purchase is regulated under the Kimberley Process, an international certification procedure established in 2003 with the goals to both prevent conflict diamonds and encourage the legitimate, ethical diamond trade.
We work with gemstones that are ethically and fairly traded, and that are traceable as possible. We source from mines that adhere to the strictest environmental and human rights standards. Because of this, we work with a limited range of stones and colors.
Yes. In an effort to reduce the jewelry industry’s impact on the environment, the pieces we make and carry are crafted using recycled gold.
While it’s of the utmost importance you have a ring you want to wear every single day, we stress the notion that your engagement ring will receive more wear-and-tear than anything else in your wardrobe.
We use the Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness when guiding people in their stone choice. Diamonds rank the highest (10/10, baby), with rubies and sapphires coming in at a close second (9/10). We don’t recommend going under 7/10, affording you a wide selection of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and topaz.
We guarantee our Nine Roses line with a lifetime warranty. If you experience any issues with your jewelry, please contact us at [email protected].
We will take care of the repair if there is an issue resulting from a manufacturing defect. Please note, our lifetime warranty does not cover and issues caused by everyday wear-and-tear or negligence. We stress that you buy jewelry that accommodates your lifestyle and take advantage of our complimentary cleanings.
We’ve created a Jewelry Care 101 Guide to help you navigate the complexities of this question! Ask someone at the front desk for a copy.
We design our line ourselves here in Richmond, but we trust a portion of the production to master craftspeople in New York. We want to offer the best possible quality, and the only way to produce an acceptable standard of fine jewelry is with master skills. The masters we happen to know and trust live in NYC. This also allows us to focus on all the important little details along the way, like creating the perfect design and sourcing ethical materials.
We offer store credit or exchange on out-of-case items if returned within 30 days. Because we carry jewelry from independent artisans, we are unable to offer refunds.
All custom sales are final. Deposits are non-refundable. If you have questions or concerns, please ask before you purchase!
If you are not completely satisfied with your online purchase, you can send it back to us for a refund or credit within 10 days of receipt.

Timeline varies depending on how long it takes to finalize the design, but you expect your piece to finished 6-8 weeks weeks after the design process is completed. We’ll make sure to keep you updated throughout the fabrication stages!
Certain projects require the timeline, but many can be expedited to 4 weeks for a rush fee. This does not apply to all custom pieces, as some projects need the full 6-8 weeks for completion. This is a case-by-case basis, so we’ll let you know if a rush job isn’t possible!
No you don’t, but we recommend one! Making an appointment ensures that one of our designers is available to give you their undivided attention. Schedule an appointment here.
It depends, both on the stones and on what you want! We love to create custom designs with storied gems, but it’s really a case-by-case basis. Bring your heirloom stones by the shop or schedule a video chat appointment with us for more info.
Not necessarily, but it can be. As jewelry designers, we believe that having a hand in the design of your new heirloom is a truly special opportunity. When it comes to custom designs, the price often seems steeper than ready-made pieces with the same materials or karat count. This is due to the fact that hours and hours go into just one piece of jewelry — a piece created just for you — instead of something designed to be produced more than once!
We go to great lengths in our design process to ensure this doesn’t happen. That being said, custom pieces are nonrefundable.
During the design process, we’ll present you with several renderings to choose from, and will work with you until you are completely happy with the design. Open and clear communication is crucial during this phase, so please voice any concerns you may have prior to going on to the fabrication stage — you won’t hurt our feelings, we promise!
That’s what we’re here for! It is our job to generate ideas for you. A good place to start is by figuring out what your preferred aesthetic is (modern, vintage, sleek, rustic, etc). An easy way to do this is by looking at jewelry online and saving images of pieces you like on a platform like Pinterest. You can also come into the shop and pick out pieces that you like here.
Please note that we do not and will not copy other designers’ work, but we can use it for inspiration to make you an original piece with similar characteristics.
